Hi my name is Summer. Please read this all the way through so you understand our situation. I’m desperately searching for a mother-in-law suite, guest house, or small separate apartment to rent temporarily for me and my 5-yr-old son. Should be very short term (hopefully). What started as emergency housing has become a deteriorating crisis over the last year and is now threatening our health, safety, and future (mold found in “walls”, roof leaks, broken window, busted pipe). I have our custody on October th where I’ll be facing our abuser in court, representing myself against his attorney. I’m terrified the judge will look at our current situation and award custody to his father, despite the horror he put us through. I NEED to show the court that I can provide a stable, safe home for my son. We are in a few housing programs but waiting for something to open up. I need a safe place for us to rent until then. I have 2 case managers who have been helping and I’m hoping to have our own place by Jan. or Feb.. My son is gone weekdays from PM and I’ll be coming and going during the day. (I make my own schedule with weird hours). My son is very sweet and well mannered - not the typical energetic 5yr old. We’ve been through a lot. We just need to be given a chance.
